OK. I'm old fashioned. But hard yakka has never done anybody any harm and puts money in your pocket.

My kids both have part time jobs. My youngest is 9, and helps out with helping her neighbor, who is elderly, with simple tasks.

She mostly provides company.

But I'm proud of her, every night she goes over .I pay her 15 a week.

This is the problem.

People, who get free money, don't value it. To make a buck, and my kids know this, you work for it.

I'm a solo dad, that tries my best, I don't rely on any help, and I work for what I want.

Need extra? For me, work a Saturday. Easy. The work i…

with nothing sacred anymore, morality at an all time low, personal responsibility not required as accountability for your actions - what could possibly go wrong........everything and we are seeing a total breakdown of the fabric of society.

The idiotic government with its idiotic obsession of blaming racism, colonization, climate change, victimhood, in fact anything they can think of instead of the real reason......accountability of ones own actions - the government is NOT made accountable for its criminal actions, so the element that continues to assist with the crime increase, know nothing is going to happen to them, or their parents - its like they have been given a green light to create mayhem.....

When you let wild horses out of…

Dead right. Sure, help people out of poverty, a leg up. Not a continuous handout. And I'll say this. Why in Christ do people believe in " entitled to it" ?

This is how socialism works. Tell the population they're to stupid and thick to wipe their own arses, control them with never ending fear , job done.

It's bloody hard to reverse this mentality that infests us now.

Look. Free , forever, without having done anything to produce nothing is the path to destruction for a democracy. I'm so bloody angry. My kids work. They get it. Part time , yes, but the seed is sown.

This is harsh but true

We used to be a nation of probl…

I'm afraid we are in a vicious circle. It is the parents who are at fault. They are clearly as bad as the kids. They don't seem to have any control over their children. Is it time to penalise the parents?

I don't believe the parents should be held responsible. We have had numerous governments over the past generation that has done all they can to remove parental control and make the state the "parent".

Discipline is now the responsibility of the state. Education, sex education, health descisions have all been taken away from the parents and absorbed by the state.

There are some kids that don't respond to the "naughty seat" and they are well aware that any physical restraint applied by the parents will be dealt with by the state.

Our neighbour 's daughter called the police during one of the lock downs when her parents forbade her to go out to see a mate. Three police cars attende…

😁This cartoon is a good analogy and very funny.

No beating around the bush however this is a serious break down of NZ law and Order and here is how to fix it . Young age is to be no defence to what are serious crimes so no pussyfooting around start imposing birching or canning and stocks sentences which should focus this lot . Many ram raids look to be made to order so lets nail the mafia pricks who propagate crimewaves too. Give frontline police emergency unlimited powers to stamp the burgeoning felonies out.

You will never rehabilitate these ratz artzs and hard working retailers under attack deserve better -they are one the cornerstones of Kiwi society that don…

Absolutely right. It's very unlikely that the ram raiders are brave, so a thorough birching - in public - followed by a period in the stocks would stamp out this loutish behaviour. My guess is that a well publicised lashing - shown on TV News - for the first offender, would ensure that there would be not a single further offence
