Kathryn, my point was, whatever happens , we will survive.

In the face of years of personal, social and political adversity, its what we as resilient New Zealanders have always done. We have never surrendered in the face of what others have seen as lost causes. .

But that is our philosophy developed over a lifetime. Other people must find their own.

Funny, but there was no hoodwinking. The TOW ended the Musket wars where Maori on Maori genocide was well under way. Ceding sovereignty to the Crown gave those less powerful tribes the protection of the Crown and full British citizenship. There was no "partnership" that was Palmer's invention in '72.... The most powerful empire the world has ever seen did not make partnership deals with native tribes.

He could open 2 bank accounts - one for his Maori portion and one for his "other" heritage. He could then pay reparations to himself from his "other" ancestory account into his Maori one. Problem solved. The tax payer needn't be involved at all.
