Clearly MMP is a total DISASTER whereby people who were given the flick by their own constituants can get into Parliament by this BS process and then become the very few people who then become the people who every party wants to know to get past the post ??? They have been called the king makers ?? Party vote ???

Obviously voters in NZ do not understand this stupidity.

I have had enuf fullstop get met out of here Scotty !!

it is unfair, in my opinion, to blame mmp.

the two critical areas of the current electoral system here in new zealand are:

  1. absence of a constitution - under a proper constitution a minor party does not get to be "king-maker";

  2. the one aspect of mmp i do have a problem with is it expanded the size of parliament to 120. that should never have happened. it should have been kept at 95, elected as constituents and list mp's.

of course there is also the issue of not having an "upper house" (some call it senate) where whatever comes from the 'lower house' is scrutinized. but that is a different discussion altogether.

Just more of the same, a cheesy smile and more bullshit, Luxon has nothing to offer either, just more tax breaks for the elite.

Now you've read Luxon's mind, how about we chat about tomorrow's Lotto numbers ;)

Unlike you, I have some faith that the entire National caucus does not think that way.

The strange thing about all this is that, in the past, political parties would have been courting the majority vote. Now it seems, apart from David Seymour and the minor parties, the majority don't matter any more. Nobody is concerned about the 85%. Should the 85% then not be concerned about the two major parties? Why go for the 15% when with a few fair policies you can entice the 85%? I hope the 85% tell them where to go.

I like your theory - something has got to change before this country implodes into full blown socialism....
