For goodness sake it’s a poem, it’s metaphors, it’s confrontational, and it’s doing what it was designed for - to upset peopl….Let’s see how the pale stale males bluster & vent!. But she isn’t asking people to take up arms any more than The Godfather started people making offers they couldn’t refuse.
What a load of crud is churned out by foolish wokes praising Auckland festival filth.
They would do us all a favour if those of their ilk managed to persuade the Auckland Arts Festival to drop this “art“ item by Tusiata Avia.
“Fierce, furious and fabulously unforgiving, we’re proud to premiere the hugely anticipated stage adaptation of Tusiata Avia’s blistering poetry collection“.
Avia’s unapologetic examination of race and racism is full of bold humour, courage and lacerating truths: where red-sequinned dusky maidens train their sights on James Cook, Samoan school girls play an innocent game of patty-cake as they describe the atrocities on Nauru, and a Tour Guide offers instructions on how to be in a room full of white…
Maori ISIS, Ron? Start with the Mongrel Mob.
Tusiata Avia, Tara McAllister and their ilk
Subsidised from day of birth thru to a taxpayer funded education.
Their subsequent stock in trade is the learned spittle that gets aimed in the face of those who do the paying for such freedoms. Fellow travelers on Bowalley Rd will make appropriate excuses.... and the show of fake and fu..ed intellect will go on.
One wonders on International Women's Day how many women are embarrassed that people like McAllister and Avia are so extreme, rude and hateful? Surely these women (what my mother would have called "Fishwives") are not representative of womanhood but are outliers trying to gain attention.
I'm all for freedom of speech but incitement to violence is a crime, so why aren't the NZ Police prosecuting?
