JAMES LAUGHLIN interviews DAVID SEYMOUR

James Laughlin is from Northern Ireland and grew up witnessing the devastating consequences of sectarian division. He sat down with David Seymour and produced this engaging interview which ACT deputy leader Brooke van Velden says, " ... does a great job of highlighting who David is – his values, his character – and explaining what real change means for New Zealand."

Few see the consequences coming, at least until access to their property is banned or they are charged rates and levies to access or rent to live in NZ - https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/treaty-of-waitangi-settlement-beachfront-home-owners-fear-access-will-be-blocked/TM3B4IP5YVAV7NK5VWHUQOOPLE/

David needs to be aware that the media are after blood, the polls last night has the ACT trajectory heading south. David also needs to STOP banging on about Winstone Peters and cruise into the next two weeks, aware of the media's desperation to get Labour back into power.

The cracks in David are showing and the media WILL force those wide open, stay calm, positive and brush the media aside if necessary. People are backing Winstone Peters because he IS saying things they want to hear......David beware, you of all people should know how dirty politics gets, at election time....

Yes, I think he needs to get his ACT together and shot the right in the foot big time last week. The cracks are beginning to show and he is beginning to look a bit unstable.

David came across very well. No one is going to get a politician who is 100% what they want. I, too, thought that both Seymour and Luxon showed great errors of judgement by not going down to the mandate protest to get the word from the horse's mouth! I bet if it had been about land-rights they'd have been there in a flash. But democracy is about compromise. We all want essentially the same end point - the difference is how we get there.

ACT will get my party vote because I want National with more backbone and that will only happen if ACT get about a 1/3 of government seats.

That may well be the case, but democratic change is always very slow and as the Marxists have ably demonstrated change is best made from within - the Labour Party of today bears no resemblance to the original Party.

A government of minor parties will result in anarchy, and we will be governed like Greece or Italy. Most people want stable and unimaginative government that interferes with their lives the least. True conservatives just want elbow room to get on with their jobs and lives.

One week to go! I am still voting Democracy NZ party vote. Matt King has shown just as much integrity, commonsense and ability as David in my view. ACT will probably get my candidate vote now as Democracy NZ don't have a candidate in the BOP. I want real change for our country, New Zealand. This will take time in my view.

Thanks, you too but unfortunately most can't see the big picture. Anyway, we are here to discuss, not agree on everything.

David as per usual does a very good & easily understood job of this interview as he always does, being and electrical engineer he understands the principles of 'cause and effect' as everything has a logical sequence called 'The Law of the Universe' which is nothing more than 'You'll reap what you sew' which is a full circle back to the fact that everything has a 'Cause and an Effect'. These laws don't change, have never changed and never likely will , they can't or life in the universe simply doesn't work , you can't do one thing and expect another outcome so why is it then we can all talk about it, politicians preach it , we all kno…

Excellent and totally true. We reap what we sow and people ought to accept that they have to lie in the beds they made for themselves by their own decisions and actions. Real democracy (not authoritarian government control of our lives) enables every individual to have an equal opportunity for a successful, productive and happy life. People that do not appreciate and take advantages of their opportunities have failed and are not "victims" as they often prefer to think. People do quite well if they understand and accept 2 simple rules of life. 1. Be Useful. Learn to and provide provide something for other people that they appreciate and value.

2. Spend less money than you earn. The people we employ to be in our governments…
