Listen to the interview of Professor Elizabeth Rata by Michael Laws here.
Michael Laws broadcasts at The Platform between 10am and 1pm on weekdays.
Elizabeth's experience with the Ministry of Education comes as no surprise to me.
I was teaching a Year 5 Primary School class the year they came in wrecking what had been a pragmatic and Plain English curriculum and replacing it with volumes of babble talk which was strong on ideology but weak on specific learning tasks for specific class levels. There was. however, a strong emphasis on Maori perspectives.
Some important teacher resources such as Maths text books and Science Units were removed but not replaced with anything useful to classroom teachers.
And so it has continued......
The Ministry is not interested in what parents want or what children need. They have become a kingdom to themselves and their ideological…
An excellent Minister of Education in 2023? The swamp is almost beyond draining, and will take the sort of courage that she obviously has..
A transcript would be great.
