Many of you will have read Elizabeth Rata's submission regarding the Education and Training Bill posted earlier this week. The concerns are widespread and led to Mike Hosking interviewing the Education Minister Erica Stanford this morning. Her attitude towards those expressing concern is quite an eye-opener. To listen to the interview, go here.

A massive, wilful disconnect. There are none so blind as those who will not see.
Stanford has surrounded herself with Maori advisors and grifters, she is completely embedded in maoriness and couldn't even join the party that suits her wokeness - she needs to resign for deceiving the country and join Labour. She is going to take New Zealand down in the academic rankings faster than you can count to 10.
Stanford is ANOTHER example of the Nats wanting to lose the next election, no doubt spurred along by her woke boss

I agree Philip Obrien. My issue is that the Minister cannot defend her position by saying “it was always there”. Her job was to remove the racist crap as required by government policy.
I think I see part of the reason for Ms Stanford's exasperation. The amendment in question will replace s 9(1)(d) of the principle Act of 2020 which refers to the existing s 127(1)(d), with the new s 127(2)(e). In other words the objectionable requirements for te reo Maori, matauranga Maori, local tikanga and te ao Maori are ALREADY IN THE LAW. This new amendment merely re-shuffles matters for some other not-very-relevant purpose. To be clear, this shit complained of was already there!
Also there, and not mentioned by the critics is the requirement for equitable outcomes for Maori students.
This is the first education law I have looked at. Wow! the massive ambition.
It is indeed fortunate that God is…
