Our opinions and 'arguments' are one thing, but in reality our foreign commercial interests alone will force us to contribute in some measurable way (no matter if it is tiny by international standards) to reducing our reliance on some of the traditional sources of energy.
Does that mean we suddenly abandon our mining for raw materials, or using oil, gas and coal, or invent new taxes to burden our food producers with? Of course not - most of us live in Planet Real, and we know that we cannot just switch to what are called "renewables" in the blink of an eye.
Nevertheless, the pressure to reduce our carbon emissions is there. Fortunately we can listen and read, and we…

An earlier comment I made here was shitcanned, and reflecting upon it rightly so.
It added nothing to the debate over a very contentious issue that does divide and separate people.
This is the problem.
Only one side of the narrative is ever seen as gospel, and any opposing view is immediately screamed down and told to " follow the science".
Ask David Bellamy how it feels to be canceled because of his views on the subject. I suppose now he's labeled as an idiot climate denier as well.
Now, that's just pure wrong.
Science is never settled, on any subject. That's how we've achieved what we have over millenia from eating one another to computers that fit in one…
Nice one Otway1. Your argument thus comprises 2 main points:
The science has been proven, beyond any doubt. So there!
you have a list of people who agree with you. So there!
Not what I would call convincing. Indeed anyone who claims ’the science is settled’ should take a look at some of the egg-on-face occasions throughout history where people, arguably smarter than you, have made such a claim. Only to be proven wrong shortly thereafter. Have a think about it.
ps I bet you $20 the planet doesn’t crumble if CO2 reaches 450ppm…
I need to correct my statement on Al Gore living in a 25 bedroom mansion. I didn’t realise he had sold it and purchased a $8,875,000 ocean-view villa on 1.5 acres with a swimming pool, spa and fountains, a real estate source familiar with the deal confirms. The Italian-style house has six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Good that he has an ocean view he can measure the height of the waves each day.. I guess he has his swimming pool, spa and fountains running entirely off the grid as NINE bathrooms using recycled water.
Bravo Rodney - very well summarised! The climate anxiety that is being parroted by morons within our schools and media, and by the Greens and Te Pati Maori, is a national disgrace. The false narratives have become so outrageous and overwhelming that they are causing children to become suicidal.Dr Patrick Moore and Professor Ian Plimer laid out exactly what you just said at a conference in 2023... 2023 HEARTLANDS 2023 CLIMATE CONFERENCE
Two of the highlights are Dr Patrick Moore at 16:00 and Prof Ian Plimer at 56:00.
They clearly demonstrate that climate catastrophists are feeding us a complete crock regarding both global warming and CO2 levels.
If we look at the chart it clearly shows that the long-term…
Newshub, RadioNZ, TVNZ, NZ Herald, Otago Daily Times, Wanaka Sun, Newsroom, The Spinoff, Stuff et al have signed up to suppress material which challenges the A.G.W. hoax.
"Stuff accepts the overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is real and caused by human activity. We welcome robust debate about the appropriate response to climate change, but do not intend to provide a venue for denialism or hoax advocacy. That applies equally to the stories we will publish in Quick! Save the Planet and to our moderation standards for reader comments."

Milutin Milankovic had it sussed many decades ago. The climate cretins at VUW and elsewhere are still blithering in their boots.
