Gosh , this could almost have been written in response to Luxon's silencing of Maureen Pugh:-
"It is undeniably tragic that “democratically elected” has been so diluted. It has been [made] so by the piss and wind of those who have, over the last half century in the West, tried to persuade us that being a clone of the Cabinet has nothing to do with the Party threshing machines that slash and hammer all MPs, Congressmen, and legislators everywhere into perfectly formed grain with no seed of an original idea.
What their lobby-fodder votes do is create a barely disguised lockstep fascism that is the quintessential destroyer of free-speech direct democracy.
And on a higher geopolitical plain, “whipped” votes – where…
Yes. In theory a democratic representative system is the fairest compared to others, however a lot depends on the moral compass and the quality of people we have to vote for.
And so it is not necessary to hold one's nose and vote National/ACT .
If we the people can somehow ensure that neither National , nor Labour can form a government with a majority in the House , then we have a chance to regain our democracy and have Parliament make the laws.
Neither National , nor Labour want that outcome ; that is why they seduce small parties into coalition.
I'd like to know why my comment was removed.

Not only did the ship ‘Labour’. founder with Cyclone Jacinda. It’s not doing very well with a wannabe breeze named Hipkins, either.
On the rocks, we are talking about a stiff one, plenty of fiscal holes in that boat for the master of moneys to get all worked up about.
