"There's only so much money to go around" - and we cannot afford to maintain our infrastructure!!
That is exactly the problem which is now hitting New Zealand with a vengeance - from potholes to inter island ferries - from hospitals to local sewage systems. Bear in mind that this is a global problem, affecting only (spendthrift!) developed countries. Countries that are building their infrastructure right now don't have that problem - yet!
Most New Zealanders have no real clue what is happening in this country, they are oblivious until the problems start to land in their own laps, by then it will be to late, as one of women friends stated the other day on the phone,"as long as it is not effecting me, I have no interest", this seems to be the normal response from the average New Zealander, very short sighted and selfish.
THe 2 operating theatres at new Dunedin hospital should not have been jettisoned as there is zilch cost saving and these leftist ratz artz spend far more money than this on trivial race based B/S. Support the S I I M South Island Independence Movement and that will put an end to this type of nonsense -GO SOUTH😊
What say we have an operating theatre named for Tusiata Avia - two birds with one stone. Hmm - on second thoughts that will hardly promote a healthful environment. Maybe not. Certainly no more public money her way!
Well written, sensible comment, Johanna. And all the money spent is money that does not exist - and money we cannot afford to borrow. This Labour government in 6 short years have ruined New Zealand's economy for years to come.
But this will not be obvious to many immediately - brainwashed, as sadly so many of us are. But we will learn the hard way very soon.
A publicity seeking, divisive, outspoken "poet" does not provide any real benefit to Maori. Those that do provide benefits are the Maori and Non-Maori employers who by wages, raise their standard of living. Also for the poorer Maori the Kiwis both Maori and Non-Maori who provide tangible, everyday support.
Unfortunately, we now have a country run by politicians who, for some reason or another,
seem to think their airy, fairy ideals like Maorification and climate change are more important then health, education and jobs.
This is the fundamental problem with New Zealand society. Change must come from the top.
These are the people we elect to put all these policies in place.
